One scroll through actress Halle Berry’s Instagram page, and it’s clear to onlookers and followers alike that the actress is living her enthusiasm for health and wellness out loud—and she’s got our attention full-stop.

At 51 years old, Berry shares that she’s in the greatest shape of her life, thanks to her new, locked-and-loaded approach to wellness. For the past year or so, Halle’s been gleefully sharing tidbits about her wellness practices, from her ongoing #FitnessFriday series to her lengthy captions spewing nutritional tips left and right alongside motivational musings on life and mindfulness.

Now, the Oscar-winning actress has decided to elevate her wellness game by relaunching her fansite Hallewood as a new destination for all things wellness. The announcement adds to the ever-growing list of celebrities launching wellness businesses and passion projects. For Halle, the interest stems from a personal investment and devotion to healing herself from a lifelong battle with diabetes.

Read on to peep Halle’s arsenal of wellness tips that keep her going.

Meditation helps her tap into her inner child.

For Berry, meditation is a way to connect to her inner child—to access a sense of playfulness in her everyday life. “I can tell you that I’ve felt happier and more like my best self since I started. I feel more creative, I can absorb information faster, and I experience better emotional health,” she shared on her Instagram. “Meditation also helps me stay in touch with my ‘little me’—the little girl who keeps me curious and open to the newness of each day and every new experience that comes my way.”

The keto lifestyle gave her a new lease on life.

As a lifelong diabetic, Berry’s experience following a ketogenic lifestyle has made all the difference. “Being diabetic most of my life, I have always had to take food very seriously. So for years, I have been following the keto or ketogenic diet. I encourage you to think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet!” She continues, “I also believe it’s been largely responsible for slowing down my aging process. If you’re like me, you can possibly reverse type 2 diabetes, and you’ll experience better physical endurance, better skin.”

Fitness is not just about being fit but also mobile.

Halle’s approach to fitness mirrors mbg’s outlook on movement—as an opportunity to feel good and practice restorative ways to move rather than simply as a means to an end. “Fitness is not just about running, lifting, and punching,” says Berry. “For me, being athletic and super fit is also about being still, stretching, and breathing.” She’s also a big advocate of dynamic stretching as an important practice to help stay mobile and injury-free. “Including stretching in my fitness program helps my muscles stay long, limber; improves my mobility and range of motion; and, most importantly, helps me avoid injuries.”

Change is about the small steps, too.

Halle may have access to a personal trainer, but that doesn’t make her oblivious to the simple ways you can elevate your fitness game. “You don’t need a fancy gym to get started—all you need is a living room, a patio, a kitchen floor, a driveway or a backyard, and a water bottle,” she encourages. “You can start by walking each day or doing jumping jacks for cardio while using very light weights or, again, holding water bottles in each hand if you don’t have weights.”

Bone broth is her anti-aging “secret weapon.”

It’s never too late to jump on the bone broth train and reap the benefits of the popular elixir, especially considering the actress citesit as her all-in-one, go-to wellness boost for feeling more lively. “Bone broth is one of my secret weapons that I think has helped me defy my age and look and feel younger than my years. I like to slow cook my bones in my crockpot for 24 hours.” This recipe is easy enough to whip on a whim and keep on hand for whenever you’re seeking a boost in gut-healing collagen.
